Bạc Liêu targets GDP growth of 13.5-14% by 2015

VGP - Bạc Liêu has set to post an annual GDP growth rate of 13.5-14% from 2011 to 2015 and 12-12.5% in the 2016-2020 period, according to the southern province’s socioeconomic development master plan approved recently by the PM.

The province is also poised to gain a GDP per capita of some VND 38.8 million in 2015 and VND 82.1 million in 2020.

Bạc Liêu strives to create some 13,500-14,000 jobs a year from now to  2015, reduce urban unemployment to below 4%, ensure all  households to have access to electricity and 85% of its population to access clean water by 2020.

According to the plan, the province will have 4 urban zones with their centers being Bạc Liêu City; Hộ Phòng, Gành Hào and Ninh Quới-Phước Long towns.

Priority will be given to rice cultivation and prawn aquaculture in some areas near the National Road No. 1A.

Demand for investment in the 2011-2020 period is estimated at VND 170 trillion.
