Government backs military ties with Cuba

VGP – The Vietnamese Government always supports the country’s military cooperation with Cuba, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

PM Dung made the point on Tuesday in Ha Noi while receiving Cuban Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) Joaquín Quintas Sola.

He said that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam treasured the valuable supports of Cuban people given to their struggle for national liberation in the past.

PM Dung said he hoped that the working visit of general Joaquín Quintas Sola and the FAR delegation would make substantial contributions to spur the cooperative relations between Viet Nam and Cuba in various areas.

According to the host leader, the Vietnamese Government backs cooperation activities between the two armies, especially in such fields as manpower training and the building of defense force.

For his part, general Joaquín Quintas Sola said he was impressed by the comprehensive achievements that Viet Nam has gained during the cause of national building and development.

Cuba, the guest said, always sees these achievements as a huge source of encouragement for the Latin American country during its process of national construction and development.

Via the visit, the general said that he hoped to strengthen the linkages between the two countries in general and the two armed forces in particular.

General Joaquín Quintas Sola hoped that Viet Nam would continue to cooperate and share experience with Cuba in national and military development./.
