The figure will be increased to 34 within the next five years, according to the newly-issued planning scheme on the network of overseas representative offices of Vietnamese news agencies.

Under the plan, the newswires allowed to open overseas offices include the Viet Nam News Agency, the People’s Newspaper, the Viet Nam Television, the Voice of Viet Nam and some other press agencies. Among them, the Viet Nam News Agency plays the leading role.

Overseas offices will be opened in key areas including the neighboring countries, ASEAN member states, the countries that have global economic and political influence or strategic partnership with Viet Nam and the countries with large number of overseas Vietnamese./.
