PM Dung puts forward solutions to fisheries

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung said that the fishery sector would be fully supported to develop fast and sustainably so as people’s living standards will be improved and the national sovereignty overseas and islands protected.

PM Dung made the affirmation when addressing a conference on solutions and policies to develop the fishery held in Da Nang city on April 15.

State management in the sector should be enhanced through reviewing mechanisms, policies and their implementation to have appropriate amendments and supplements or devise new ones as required, said PM Dung.

The Government leader suggested specific solutions to support fishermen with capital, review and develop feasible insurance policies, boost seafood export and invest in fishing infrastructure.

He stressed the importance of forming a new cooperative production relations among collectives and fisheries union to ensure better effectiveness, security and safety in fishing activities.

PM Dung also asked localities to take measures to alleviate poverty for fishermen and relevant agencies to further support fishermen in conducting fishing activities and addressing problems that may arise at sea, contributing to protecting national independence and sovereignty.

He reiterated the Party and State’s maritime strategy, which plays a key role in realizing industrialization and modernization, developing the country, improving people’s living standards, defending national sovereignty, boosting international integration and ensuring peace.

After the conference, the Government will issue a decree on developing the fishery sector with an aim to creating favorable conditions to develop the sector fast and sustainably, contributing to improving people’s living standards and protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands.
