PM praises US Congressman's contributions

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday in Ha Noi hosted a reception to US Congressman Mr. Eni Faleomavaega, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

PM Dung said that he treasured the contributions of Mr. Eni Faleomavaega to the bilateral ties.

The host leader welcomed the Congressman for holding hearings at the American House of Representatives to figure out the impacts of agent orange/dioxin on the environment and people of Viet Nam and calling on the US Government to assist Vietnaemse victims.

PM Dung also hoped that American Congressmen would strengthen exchanges between the two legislature bodies and peoples in a bid to consolidate mutual understanding and promote economic and commercial potentials.

He also hoped that the US would support Viet Nam to negotiate the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

For his part, Mr. Eni Faleomavaega affirmed that he would continue to campaign for the US Congress to increase budget for land detoxication and assistance to agent orange/dioxin victims.

The Congressman also expressed his concern over the recent developments in the East Sea. He emphasized his support for peaceful settlement of disputes on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

He also acknowleged the achievements Viet Nam has gained in human rights and religious freedom./.
