PM receives UK and Polish Ambassadors

PM Dung expressed his pleasure at positive developments in the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and the UK while receiving Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Viet Nam Antony Stokes.

The host leader hailed the positive and effective contributions of the Ambassador and affirmed that Viet Nam will spare no effort to work with the UK in the future.

He hoped that the two sides would support each other at international and regional forums; spur cooperation in the areas of economics, trade, investment, education-training, national defense.

Viet Nam also wants to receive ODA from the UK for its climate change response, said PM Dung.

He also thanked the UK for joining hands with other G7 countries to oppose China's illegal dispatch of an oil rig in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, hoping that the UK would continue to strongly condemn the rig operation.

For his part, Ambassador Antony Stokes thanked the Vietnamese Government for assisting him in   successfully fulfilling his working mission in Viet Nam.

The diplomat said that the UK is extremely interested in the developments in the East Sea and the freedom of navigation in the waters. He underlined the consistent stance of the UK that calls for related sides to respect international law, ensure freedom of navigation and security in the East Sea.  

Earlier, Ambassador Antony Stokes on July 8 was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his active and effective contributions to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.

The same day, PM Dung also welcomed new Polish Ambassador to Viet Nam Barbara Szymanowska.

The host leader hoped that the two sides would strengthen exchanges of delegations at all levels and support each other at international forums; promote economic, trade, investment and cultural linkages.

For her part, Ambassador Barbara Szymanowska promised to do her utmost to work with ministries and agencies of the two sides to implement the signed agreements especially in economics, trade and investment./.
