PM welcomes Indonesian Commander-in-chief
VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Friday received the Commander-in-chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Agus Suhartono, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

The Government chief stressed visit would contribute to enhancing friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the two nations, especially after both sides decided to lift up the bilateral ties to strategic partnership.
Viet Nam attaches importance to strengthening cooperation with Indonesia in all areas, including national defense, considering as a pillar of the strategic partnership, PM Dung said.
He urged the two armies to bolster exchanges of delegations as well as cooperation in training and sea patrol.
PM Dung also spoke highly of Indonesia’s role in maintaining peace and stability in the region, affirming that peace, stability, maritime safety and freedom are common desire of ASEAM members and relevant countries.
Viet Nam hopes to coordinate closely with Indonesia and other countries to strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and work towards the Code of Conduct, settle disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures and on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Agus Suhartono briefed on the outcomes of his talks held earlier with Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense.
The Commander-in-chief said Indonesia would strive to expand military cooperation with Viet Nam./.
