PM welcomes UK Trade Minister

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Wednesday hosted a reception for the United Kingdom’s Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Stephen Green who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

PM Dung highly spoke of the outcomes of the  meetings between Mr. Stephen Green and Vietnamese ministerial and local leaders. 

The Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership, said PM Dung is flourishing especially in economics, trade and investment. The two-way trade volume stayed at an impressive figure of around US$3.5 billion last year.

“Viet Nam will spare no effort to cooperate with the UK to deeply and effectively deepen the bilateral relations,” said Mr. Dung.

The host leader proposed the two sides should further enhance trade linkages. He hoped that the UK would support Viet Nam’s efforts in free trade agreement negotiations with the EU, grant more ODA for Viet Nam, boost civil aviation cooperation and offer more scholarships for Vietnamese students.

For his part, Mr. Stephen Green highlighted that the UK always attaches importance to the cooperative ties with Viet Nam.

The UK, said the guest would do its utmost to realize the agreements signed high-ranking leaders of the two sides, especially those on economics, trade, investment, education-training.

According to Mr. Stephen Green, British enterprises are extremely interested in investment activities in Viet Nam and hoped that the Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for them to penetrate in the market.

He also suggested the two sides strengthen education-training cooperation and cultural exchanges to consolidate the mutual friendship and understanding./.
