VN, Thailand agree to raise trade value to US$15 bln

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-ocha agreed to lift up the two-way trade value between the two countries to US$15 billion by 2020, during their talks in Ha Noi on Thursday.

The two PMs vowed to further strengthen the exchange of high-level delegations and effectively carry out bilateral cooperative mechanisms like the joint Cabinet meetings and the Viet Nam-Thailand bilateral cooperation committee, and task ministries, agencies and localities to fruitfully realize signed agreements.

Viet Nam appreciates Thailand’s efforts in its role as the coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, which have contributed to maintaining the bloc’s solidarity and common voice in the East Sea issue.

Both sides agreed to continue working together to settle disputes through peaceful measures in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and beef up negotiation on the Code of Conduct in the East Sea.

PM Prayut Chan-ocha invited PM Dung to attend the Greater Mekong Subregion Summit in December this year and co-chair the 3rd joint Cabinet meeting in 2015 in Thailand.

After the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of the 2014-2016 Action program on the implementation of the Viet Nam-Thailand strategic partnership, 2014-2016 the cultural cooperation program, and the cooperation agreement  between Can Tho City and Chachongsao province./.
