VN expects stronger education cooperation with the US

VNGOP – “I strongly expect that the US investors, enterprises and universities, with your strengths and good experience, will closely work with Vietnamese partners to fruitfully fulfill the bilateral agreements on education and training,” highlighted PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, at the dialogue “Education Initiative with Việt Nam” on June 26.

The dialogue, jointly hosted by the Asia Society and Việt Nam’s Embassy to the US, took place in Houston City in the atmosphere of goodwill and frankness.

PM Dũng briefed the audience about Việt Nam’s educational and training achievements over the last 20-year renovation, frankly pointing out the challenges that Việt Nam is facing with in nurturing high-quality human resource.

The PM stated that, in his successful talks with US President G. Bush, the two leaders agreed to establish a high-level education task force, suggesting that the US professors, investors and universities raise more proposals for better bilateral cooperation in this field. PM Dũng made an emphasis that the Vietnamese Government will make it easier for foreign investors, including American ones, to successfully do business in Việt Nam for mutual benefits.

The US professors and university leaders presented their straightforward ideas on Vietnamese education and training.

Havard University’s professors revealed that establishing an international-standard university requires a lot of expenditure and responsibility from the Government, through a sound roadmap of gradually advance from low to higher levels.

The Houston Community Foundation’s (HCF) professors claimed that expanding community training in Việt Nam is feasible. HCF can cooperate with Việt Nam in on-the-spot training programs.
