VN to set up new embassy and consulates general

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has ratified a resolution to set up Việt Nam’s embassy and consulates general in some countries.

Under the resolution, Việt Nam will open embassy in Colombo, capital of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and two Consulates General in Perth of Australia and Vancouver, Canada.

Việt Nam and Australia established the diplomatic ties on February 26, 1973 and set up their own embassies in each other. After opening consulate general in Perth, Việt Nam then has two consulate generals in Australia, with the other in Sydney.

Việt Nam and Canada started their diplomatic relations on August 21, 1973 and already exchanged embassies with each other. Currently, Canada ranked 13th among the biggest investors in Việt Nam.
