Joint Statement
between the Governments of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam and the
Czech Republic
At the invitation of
Czech PM Mirek Topolanek, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng paid an official visit to
the Czech Republic from September 12-13.
The two leaders
exchanged views on the orientation for development of bilateral
relations in the future and international issues of mutual concerns.
The two sides agreed
to continue to develop the comprehensive relations between Việt Nam and
the Czech Republic on the basis of signed agreements between the two
countries.
The Vietnamese
delegation met with Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Chamber of Deputies
Speaker Miloslav Vlcek, First Vice Chairman of the Senate Petr Pithart
to discuss issues of mutual concerns.
1. The two sides
agreed that enhancing mutual trust and cooperation in every field was to
serve the benefit of the society of the two countries and contribute to
building a harmonious international environment.
The two sides affirmed
their wish to make regular high-level visits, meetings and bilateral
exchanges to develop sustainable relations between the two countries.
The two sides
expressed their interests in expanding investment, and boosting
bilateral trade and economic cooperation. They decided to provide
support and create favorable conditions for their businesses in
cooperating for mutual benefits in accordance with WTO regulations.
The two sides welcomed
the readiness to boost the traditional bilateral cooperation as well as
cooperation at local level and between non-governmental organizations,
especially in the fields of environmental protection, science, culture,
education, sports, health care and tourism.
The two sides agreed
to accelerate the re-negotiation of the Agreement on investment
encouragement and protection between the two governments.
The two sides signed
an agreement between the two governments on receiving back their
citizens and a protocol on implementation of the signed agreement on
receiving back citizens.
2. The two countries
stressed the importance of cooperation within the framework of the
EU-Việt Nam, EU-ASEAN and ASEM forums. The two sides supported the
approval of the EU-ASEAN Action Plan at the up-coming meeting of the
EU-ASEAN Summit to be held in Singapore in November.
3. The two sides
affirmed the important role of the UN in international relations and
agreed that the reform of the UN was necessary. The two sides agreed to
continue cooperating within the UN and other international organizations
to contribute to the world’s stability and security.
The two sides held
that terrorism was a common enemy of the international community and a
serious threat to the whole of civilization. They strongly condemned
terrorism in every form and voiced their support of efforts to prevent
and eliminate terrorism on the basis of the UN Chatter and recognized
regulations of international laws.
The two sides
committed to preventing global warming and fighting the proliferation of
mass destruction weapons, organized criminals, strengthening the
law-governed state, protecting human rights and affirming the importance
of the dialogues regarding issue.

invited him to visit Việt Nam. PM Mirek Topolanek accepted the
invitation.
