ADB-funded project gets nod

VGP – The PM has green-lighted a policy framework for resettlement of the Greater Mekong Subregion Flood and Drought Risk Management and Mitigation Project sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).  

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is in charge of instructing investors to work with the People’s Committees of Đồng Tháp and Tiền Giang to provide compensations and assist resettlement process for local residents.

The project targets to improve capacity for community in four countries in the Mekong Subregion including Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Việt Nam in responding and recovering from the negative impacts of floods and droughts.

The project prioritizes  the development of a regional and national road-maps for bettering flood and drought risk management and development of a prioritized program of structural and nonstructural flood and drought risk management interventions in each country; and preparing feasibility studies for national investment programs in Cambodia, Laos, and Việt Nam based on the county-specific prioritized program of interventions./.
