“Buy Vietnamese goods” campaign gets a boost

VGP – The PM has requested ministries, agencies and localities to beef up the “Buy Vietnamese goods” campaign as part of effort to stimulate domestic production.

He has asked his inferiors to put forth the dissemination of the campaign far beyond local conventional customers to even foreigners.

The campaign is also aimed at encouraging domestic enterprises to constantly improve the quality of made-in-Viet Nam products and services to make them competitive in the global market; fulfill their commitments to protecting the rights of customers, and build brand names for their products to secure stable niches in both domestic and foreign markets.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is in charge of researching and building a project which combines domestic market development and the campaign in line with Viet Nam’s international commitments. The document must be submitted to the PM in Q3, 2013.

The MoIT will work with related agencies and associations to provide more assistance to enterprises by enhancing trade promotion activities, bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas and traditional markets and launching promotion programs like “Day of Vietnamese goods”, “Week of Vietnamese goods” and “Month of Vietnamese goods.”

The PM has also assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries, agencies and units to introduce Vietnamese goods to overseas Vietnamese communities.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is required to work with related agencies to introduce and advertise tourism sites and regional specialties.

The Ministry of Science and Technology is responsible for formulating and issuing technical standards and criteria on goods quality and protection of trademarks and geographical directions.

The PM has also requested the Ministry of Health to build a master plan on “Buy Vietnamese medicines” project./.
