Fishery export revenue expected to reach US$11 billion

VGP – The Vietnamese Government plans to raise the total fishery output to some seven million tons and the export revenue to some US$11 billion by 2020, according to its newly-adopted planning scheme.

The figures are expected to increase to nine million tons and US$20 billion by 2030.

Catching and processing activities will be re-organized in order to better protect the fishery sources.

By 2020, shrimps, tra fish, cuttle-fish will account for 70% of the total fishery exports.

The country will also establish six major fishery centers in Hai Phong, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Kien Giang, and Can Tho./.
