In his speech addressed at the opening ceremony, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng expressed his profound admiration to women’s greater contributions to the development and progress of humanity.

The Vietnamese leader also highly spoke of the active role of the GSW in providing useful recommendations to leaders of governments, states and international organizations in order to protect the legitimate rights, ensure gender equality, imporve the living and working conditions of women, and further promote the role of women in society.

The State of Việt Nam had adopted the Law on Gender Equality, Law on Domestic Violence and other laws to protect women’s interest. In addition, the 10-year national program on women’s advancement from 2001-2010 was launched and more than half of the goals have been fulfilled before schedule.
