The PM’s address showed a high sense of responsibility and resolute attitude to overcome all mistakes, make use strong points, take prompt actions in order to fruitfully realize the set targets, tasks and solutions, laying the foundation for the sustainable development in the future.

During the 3 rd sitting session of the 12 th NA, 132 deputies sent 297 questions to the PM and other Government members.

Mentioning the readjusted GDP growth norm of 7% in 2008, the PM emphasized that, to fulfill the top priority of curbing inflation, the Government is taking some strong measures, for example, tightening monetary policies and cutting public investments and budget expenditure. These measures may lead to the decrease of resources for growth.

Thus, the Government proposed the NA to adopt the target of reining inflation in 2008 as follows: “To proactively curb inflation and price increase; through various solutions, to gradually pull down consumption price escalation” to reach a one-digit figure within several years to come.

PM Dũng also further analyzed eight groups of burning issues, including (1) reviewing and rearranging investment projects; (2) saving regular spending allocated from the budget; (3) performance of State-run economic groups and corporations; (4) measures to narrow the trade gap; (5) guidelines for price control, food security and farmer’s improved livelihood; (6) market information work to prevent speculation; (7) ensuring social security; and (8) responsibilities of Cabinet members.

The NA’s agreement with the Government’s report has consolidate the Government’s confidence and determination to continue its implementation of the set tasks and solutions.

"The Government is convinced that we will effectively curb inflation, stabilize the macro-economy, ensure social security and sustainable growth, laying a firm foundation for the sustainable development in the next years", stressed the PM.
