Gov't convenes regular meeting in October

VGP - Under the chairmanship of PM Nguyen Tan Dung, the Government convened its regular monthly meeting on October 29.

The Cabinet was scheduled to hear and discuss reports on the implementation of the Government Resolution No.01/ND-CP and the socio-economic situation in October; the implementation of the State Budget Plan in October and the past 10 months; and the criteria on evaluating poverty levels in the 2016-2020 period.

The Cabinet will also discuss a draft ordinance on market management and a draft law on Protective Guard.

The report on the socio-economic situation in October and in the past 10 months by Minister of Planning and Investment Bui QuangVinh stated that the economy has seen notable recovery and year-on-year high growth over the past 10 months.

It also reported that the macro-economy has been stable; the economy’s balance has been maintained; the inflation has been controlled around 2%; credit growth has grown faster than capital mobilization; bad debts has been decreased below 3% as planned for the year; the total demand and purchasing power has risen; domestic turnover has raised; the investment and business environment has been significantly improved; industrial production has gained higher growth over last year.

In October, the number of international visitors to Viet Nam has continued increasing over the previous month and the same period last year.

In addition, foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction over the past 10 months has achieved an estimated US$11.8 billion and 16.3% year-on-year rise. The total register FDI was estimated to reach nearly US$19.3 billion while positive changes have been seen in business development with an increase in the number of newly-established businesses and registered capital.

External affairs and international integration have achieved numerous remarkable results. Social welfares have been ensured with 1.362 million jobs created, a 3.5% year-on-year rise. Policies supporting production and improving living standards for disadvantaged, ethnic and vulnerable people have been implemented effectively while political security and social order and safety have been maintained.
