Over the past several days, Typhoon Lekima has caused heavy rains and floods in many central provinces, including Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, and Thừa Thiên–Huế. However, thanks to the timely and drastic measures taken by the Government leaders as well as great efforts from all ministries, sectors and local authorities right at the time the typhoon was a tropical low pressure, the damages were minimized.
The PM agreed with Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải to quickly help people in the typhoon-hit areas, especially the two districts of Kỳ Anh (Hà Tĩnh Province) and Quảng Trạch (Quảng Bình) where the typhoon’s eyes had gone through, to go back to normal life.
The PM added that the governmental agencies should actively assist these regions to overcome consequences left by the typhoon through providing medicines, clean water, food; maintaining environmental hygiene; recovering the winter-crop production; and repairing boats.
