Gov’t to tighten car, office equipment purchase

VGP – The Office of Government on Thursday issued an Official Dispatch which conveys PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s latest instructions on the implementation of the Government’s Resolution 11.

Accordingly, the purchase of new cars and other transport means for urgent missions, security, national defense by State agencies will be halted. The Ministry of Finance was asked to report to the PM necessary cases for consideration.

The halt will also be applicable to the purchase of office equipments and machines that worth over VND 100 million.

For ODA projects receiving non-refundable aid from foreign partners, car purchase will be made in accordance with the agreements reached by the Vietnamese Government and aid agencies.

Car purchase for other ODA projects will be subjected to the Resolution 11.

The Government chief assigned the Ministry of Finance to coordinate with other relevant agencies to provide further instructions.

Earlier in June 2011, PM Dũng asked the Ministry of Finance to coordinate with relevant agencies, provincial People’s Committees to review and inspect the Government’s decision to halt State -funded car purchase in line with the Resolution.
