Hà Nội must be the city of sustainable integration and national identities

VGP - PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on December 22 issued a decision to identify the targets and viewpoint of Hà Nội's master planning scheme to 2030 and visions to 2050. Accordingly, Hà Nội must become a city of efficiency, sustainability, and high competitiveness, having distinctive landscape and architecture, crystallizing the national historic and cultural identities, deserving to be the capital of a country of over 100 million people.

Hà Nội will be a modern city

It is estimated that the capital will have some 10 million residents by the year 2030.

Hà Nội will have a proper and sustainable spatial structure in harmony with natural environment. This structure consists of the existing urban quarter and the restored one, with world-class financial and trade centers.

Urban development areas will be alternated with open spaces, parks, green belts and forests. The underground space will be exploited.

There are also agricultural and rural belts and central systems, such as national administrative hub, cultural and historical centers, and healthcare quarter.

Land funds must be planned and used fruitfully in order to ensure the capital’s comprehensive development and modernity.

Regarding the transport system, the existing central city will be connected properly with new urban areas.

The Nội Bài International Airport should be upgraded while a new airport must be built soon.

It is necessary to develop a waterway network, with a port cluster in the Red River to serve new industrial parks to the south.

Regional and urban rail routes will be designed and constructed.

Environmental issues must be highlighted in making strategies on functional quarters and industrial areas in order to minimize negative impacts an preserve agricultural areas.
