The project sets out four specific targets as follows:
Firstly, the State management agencies in charge of overseeing the quality and safety of agricultural, forest and aquatic products will be strengthened by 2012.
Specifically, some functions and obligations of these agencies will be amended and supplemented to ensure the quality and safety of the thorough production process of these kinds of products.
Secondly, specialized agencies’ efficiency of food quality and safety control will be improved.
The target will be executed within 2012-2014 with a bid to build a national information system and database on quality and safety of agricultural, forest and aquatic products, and to develop relevant consultancy, testing, and certification services.
Thirdly, relevant legal framework will be built.
Fourthly. a modern control system, including the construction of new national laboratories for testing the quality and safety of agricultural, forest and aquatic products will be set up.
The project is estimated to cost VND 1.5 trillion.
