Legal assistance law to be reviewed
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has recently
asked his inferiors to review the implementation of the Law on Legal
Assistance over the past three years.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) was assigned to work with relevant ministries, agencies, Supreme People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuracy to fulfill the task.
The MoJ is in charge of issuing guiding documents to implement the law and composing long-term plans on negotiation, signing, and accession of international accords on mutual legal assistance.
The PM asked the MoJ to pay more attention to countries where a large number of overseas Vietnamese are living..
As of September, 2010, Việt Nam inked a total of 26 mutual legal assistance agreements with other countries on such field as civil, trade, criminal matters, and extradition./.
