Master plan on developing nuclear power infrastructure approved
VGP - The PM has approved a master plan on developing the national nuclear power infrastructure to 2020 in line with the International Atomic Energy Agency's instructions and the country’s situation, responding to requirements in implementing the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project safely, securely and effectively.

Accordingly, policies, legal documents and technical standards and regulations will be improved.
The plan also included training and developing human resources to meet requirements in State management and legal regulations on nuclear power; research, implementation and technical support; construction, management and operation of the project in Ninh Thuan province.
In addition, it was required to enhance capabilities and investment in technical and material facilities for State management and legal regulations on nuclear power; develop support industry for nuclear power; implement sub-projects under the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project; develop infrastructure for building and connecting the nuclear power plant to the national power grid; strengthen capabilities, technical and material facilities to ensure safety, security, protect the plant, warn and respond to radiation and nuclear incidents.
The master plan comprised schemes and projects which were approved by PM Dung and implemented from 2010 to 2020.
According to the approved schemes and projects, the Ministry of Science and Technology is responsible for training and developing human resources for projects related to developing nuclear power. The Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted a scheme on developing the nuclear power support industry while the Ministry of Construction is asked to implement schemes on managing quality of the nuclear power plant’s construction and planning places to keep and bury radioactive waste to 2030 with a vision to 2050.
