The NSSCII is headed by the PM, who is aided by Deputy PMs Vu Van Ninh, Vu Duc Dam and Pham Binh Minh as deputy heads.
It comprises of three interdisciplinary steering committees, including a committee fora politics, security and national defence headed by Deputy PM Minh, another on economics led by Deputy PM Ninh and the other on culture, society, science, technology, education and training administered by Deputy PM Dam.
It is stated that if the head is engaged in other functions, the deputy head of the interdisciplinary steering committee on politics, security and national defence will take the monitoring work over from the head.
The NSSCII’s four permanent members are the Minister and Head of the Government Office, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Other eight members are leaders of Ministries of National Defence, Public Security, Planning and Investment, Finance, Justice, Science and Technology, Education and Training, and Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The NSSCII helps the Government and the PM devise directions, strategies and major solutions related to international integration, and suggest key tasks of international integration in different periods, while directing ministries, ministry-level agencies, Government agencies and People’s Committees of centrally-run cities and provinces to realize international integration policies and address related issues.
The national steering committee is assigned to report periodically the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Government and the PM on the implementation of international integration tasks while fulfilling other entrusted tasks.
