PM: Defense cooperation enhances formation of ASEAN Community
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng highly spoke of results of the 7th ASEAN Chief of Defense Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-7) to the construction of the ASEAN Community with three pillars: Politics-Security, Economy, and Culture–Society.

Talking of the meeting’s theme of “Boosting the effectiveness of cooperation among ASEAN armies in response to non-traditional security threats,” PM Dũng asserted that non-traditional security issues are challenging stability, security and development of many countries, regions and the international community. He described the ACDFIM-7 as a practical contribution to the formation of the ASEAN Community and expressed his confidence that all agreements reached at this meeting would be fruitfully realized. The host leaders suggested ASEAN defense forces expand their cooperation with partners in securing peace, friendship and cooperation in the region and the world. Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan, Commander of the Royal Armed Force of Brunei Darussalam, the host of ACDFIM–8, stated that results of ACDFIM–7 are an important foundation for ASEAN members to effectively cope with non-traditional security threats. |
