PM Dung praised HCM city's practical socio-economic development that contributed to macroeconomic stability, minimal inflation, and the protection of social welfare and security.
The Government chief called upon the HCM city to maintain its macroeconomic stability while undertaking economic restructuring and the transformation to a new economic growth model.
“HCM City should focus on three sectors namely industry, agriculture and services,” said PM Dung.
HCM City is expected to gain a GDP growth rate of 9.3% for the whole year (1.7 times higher than the national average), said Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee. Unemployment rate would fall by 4.8% and poverty rate 0.8%, he added.
However, the city needs to resolve the shortcomings of urban management, environmental protection, social security, and food hygiene and safety in 2014.
Mr. Quan also briefed the Government chief about the city’s key economic norms including a GDP growth rate of 9.5–10%, the total social investment to around 31% of GDP, and less unemployment rate of 4.7%.
The city will also concentrate on reducing traffic accidents flood prevention, clean water supplies, and environmental sanitation, said Chairman Quan./.
