He informed leaders of the global health institution about Việt Nam ’s important achievements in caring and protecting people’s health. The country is able to fulfill its millennium goals of reducing mortality rate among under-1-year-old and under-5-year-old children this year, 5 years ahead of schedule. Việt Nam ’s efforts and success in fighting against bird flu were widely recognized by the international community, thus it will host an international ministerial meeting on the epidemic in April. Stressing the necessity of controlling influenza in any case, the Vietnamese Government chief suggested WHO hand over Việt Nam new vaccine for A/H1N1 for safety tests. PM Dũng also took the occasion to ask WHO to further help Việt Nam develop its health system through qualifying medical staff, perfecting policies and transferring technologies. | | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng (2 nd from right) works with leaders of the World Health Organization, Geneva , January 27, 2010 – Photo: VGP/Việt Đông | Applauding Việt Nam ’s healthcare policies, Director-General Margaret Chan stated that WHO is ready to shake hands with Việt Nam in the fields suggested by PM Dũng in order to secure better health for Vietnamese people.
