PM holds talks with President of Cuban Council of State

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Cuban Council of State Raul Castro Ruz affirmed their resolve to consolidate and deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cuba during their talks on March 27.

The two leaders discussed measures to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, agriculture, electronics, telecommunication, energy, healthcare, bio-technology, construction, tourism and education.

Both sides highly valued their mutual coordination and support at international organizations and multilateral forums to protect the two countries' legitimate interests and improve their prestige on the international arena, effectively contributing to the building of a more equal and better world.

PM Dung expressed his belief that Cuban people will continue to promote the great achievements reaped by the country and fruitfully realize the socio-economic policies adopted at the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba to gain greater achievements.

President Raul Castro Ruz took the occasion to thank the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam for their good sentiments and valuable assistance for Cuba.

On behalf of Viet Nam's high-ranking leaders, PM Dung invited President of the Cuban Council of State Raul Castro Ruz and President of the Cuban Parliament Esteban Lazo Hermandez to visit Viet Nam. The Cuban leaders accepted the invitations with pleasure.

After the talks, President Raul Castro Ruz, on behalf of the Cuban State, conferred the Order of Jose Marti to PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

On the occasion, PM Dung announced the grant of five million tons of rice and 100 sets of computer to Cuban people.

The two leaders also witnessed the signing ceremony of the medium-term economic agenda between the two Governments and a Memorandum of Understanding on healthcare and agriculture cooperation.

The same day, the two countries issued a joint communiqué./.
