PM meets Australian senior politicians

VGP - PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng this afternoon, October 13, had separate talks to Leader of the Opposition in the Australian Parliament Malcolm Turnbull, Speaker of the House of Representatives Harry Jenkins, President of the Senate Alan Hoog, Australian Governor-General Quentin Bryce, met the staff of Việt Nam’s Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community, and visited the Australia National University.

In the encounters with Australian politicians, PM Dũng underscored the blossoming friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in various fields, especially economics, trade, investment, education and training, and development assistance. He showed his hope to attain further attention and support from the Australian leaders for better bilateral cooperation.

Meeting leaders of the Australian legislature, the Government chief expressed his pleasure at ties of the two legislative bodies, especially after the visit made by the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly in March 2008.

In his talks with the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Australia, the PM highly appreciated their contributions to the strengthened friendship between the two nations. He reaffirmed the Party and State’s policies to consider the overseas Vietnamese an indispensable part of the nation and to give them best conditions to come back and do business in the fatherland.

Visiting the Australian National University, PM Dũng thoroughly analyzed Việt Nam’s status on the international arena and the Asia-Pacific region. The PM also underlined great possibilities for the cooperation in economics, infrastructure development, transportation, education and training as well as science and technology between Việt Nam and Australia.
