PM meets English financiers
VNGOP – Meeting Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman David Lewis and leaders of some leading businesses operating in finance, banking, and insurance on March 04, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng confirmed that Việt Nam is seriously observing WTO commitments and that the Vietnamese Government has allowed two UK banks, HSBC and Standard Chatered, to establish their 100% foreign capital banks in Việt Nam.
| | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in talks with the City of London Lord Mayor – Photo: VNGOP | Responding Lord Mayor Alderman David Lewis’s concerns for Việt Nam’s orientations of economic development, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng asserted that Việt Nam is accelerating economic renovation and the equitization of State-owned enterprises. Việt Nam is also doing its best to realize WTO commitments in various fields, especially trade, investment, financial services and intellectual property. The PM informed the Lord Mayor that the Vietnamese Government had agreed with the establishment of the UK Apollo University in Hà Nội one year ahead schedule and permitted two banks, HSBC and Standard Chatered, to establish their 100% foreign capital banks in Việt Nam. PM Dũng highly appreciated the cooperation between the City of London and British financial organizations and Vietnamese partners. He expressed his hope that they will continue to share experience, provide exact forecast of fluctuations in the world financial market, and help Việt Nam train labor force in finance and banking. On the same day, in the talks with over 70 financial consultants and experts, including those from Prudential, HSBC, Dragon Capital, and Standard Chartered, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng said that the Vietnamese Government is making great efforts to build an effective and safe financial and banking system which can serve the rapid and sustainable economic development through providing sufficient capital, stabilizing macro-economic indexes, regulating policies on monetary, exchange rate, and anti-inflation. | | | And with English financial consultants – Photo: VNGOP | In the afternoon, PM Dũng opened the UK-Việt Nam Business Forum in London.
