PM ratifies Kon Tum’s overall development plan

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has approved the overall socio-economic development plan towards 2020 of the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.

The plan, with a total investment of around VND 103-105 trillion, aims to raise the locality’s annual economic growth rate to about 14.7% during the next decade.

Accordingly, the province’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is expected to reach VND 27.9 million by 2015 and VND 53.2 million by 2020.

To realize the goals, Kon Tum Province will focus on developing agriculture, with a model of production combined with processing industry, and speeding up high-value trees such as coffee, sugar-canes and fruit-trees, as well as pushing up forestry economy.

Regarding the workforce, the province will diversify its vocational training so as to raise the proportion of trained laborers to 45% in 2015 and 55-60% in 2020.

Meanwhile, the province will continue to effectively carry out poverty reduction programs and improve the livelihood of poor households, in order to narrow the development gap between urban and rural areas.
