PM receives Cambodian President of Senate

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on December 16 welcomed President of the Senate of Cambodia Say Chhum who is paying an official visit to Viet Nam.

The PM hailed the talks between the Cambodian President of Senate and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, saying that the visit will contribute to enhancing the multifaceted relations between the two nations.

The host expected that Mr. Say Chhum will make contributions to Cambodia’s national development and the two nations’ relations.

Viet Nam’s consistent policy is to accelerate the two sides’ relationship more effectively for mutual benefits and development of both, affirmed PM Dung.

He proposed the two sides strengthen cooperation in all areas, including economics, trade, investment and tourism, hoping Cambodia to facilitate Vietnamese businesses' expansion of investment and operation in Cambodia.

The Vietnamese leader expected that the two sides will closely cooperate in enhancing land border demarcation and marker planting and Cambodian functional agencies will coordinate with the Vietnamese side to address legal issues for Vietnamese in Cambodia.

Mr. Say Chum stressed the development in the traditional relations between the two nations, asserting that Cambodia attaches importance to the relationship with Viet Nam and will coordinate with the country in border demarcation for the border area of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

The leaders assented to advocate each other at international and regional forums, especially at the United Nations.

Viet Nam was the sixth largest investor in Cambodia. The two-way trade turnover is expected to achieve US$5 billion at the end of this year.
