PM starts tour to Thailand
VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Thursday began official visit to Thailand where he and his Thai counterpart Prayuth Chan-ocha will co-chair the Viet Nam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting.
During the visit, PM Dung will also attend the signing ceremony of a number of cooperative agreements and the Viet Nam-Thailand business dialogue, and meet with the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
The visit aims to consolidate and enhance the strategic partnership in various fields, especially politics, security-defense, economy, trade, investment, labor between the two countries and accelerate their cooperation at regional mechanisms.
The two-way trade volume between Viet Nam and Thailand was over US$10 billion in 2014, an increase of 12.5% against 2013. The figure reached over US$4.3 billion in the first five months this year, up 8% compared to that of the same period last year.
Thailand is the 10th biggest foreign investor in Viet Nam with 374 projects worth nearly US$6.69 billion.
The bilateral defense cooperation has been strengthened through exchange of delegations and experience in trans-national, high-tech, drug, and human trafficking crime prevention.
