PM successfully concludes U.S. tour
VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese delegationon February 16 left California, successfully concluding the U.S. tour for the ASEAN-U.S. Special Summit in California.

The Summit marked a new hallmark in the ASEAN-U.S. strategic partnership and the increasing role and status of ASEAN.
Via the Summit, the U.S. hoped to boost practical cooperation and affirm its long-term commitments to the Southeast Asian region and ASEAN.
At the Summit, PM Nguyen Tan Dung, other ASEAN leaders, and President Barack Obama attended three sessions including a retreat under the theme “Promoting Regional Prosperity through Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, a working dinner to discuss the regional strategic outlook, and another retreat under the theme “Protecting Peace, Prosperity, and Security in the Asia-Pacific”.
On the sidelines of the Summit, PM Dung met with U.S. President Barak Obama, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha, leaders of U.S. leading groups like IBM, Microsoft, and Cisco.
As the Summit Chair, President Obama congratulated the establishment of the ASEAN Community, affirming that the U.S. attached importance to the relations with ASEAN and backed ASEAN’s central role in the on-going shaping region.
Mr. Obama also hoped that the U.S. and ASEAN member states would spur economic and trade ties.
Finally, the U.S. and ASEAN released the Sunnylands Declaration highlighting key principles guiding the ASEAN-U.S. relations in the coming time. /.
