The Government chief hopes the delegation’s visit would help to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Việt Nam and the US, particularly in the fields of investment, healthcare, labor, and agent orange/dioxin legacy.

PM Dũng called on the US to speed up assistance to Việt Nam to settle the lingering dioxin issues as hundreds of Vietnamese people have exposed to the toxic substance and are having to suffer a hard life. This is the responsibility and moral code of the US.

He also urged the US Senator delegation to lobby the US Government to grant Việt Nam preferential tax and not to discriminate or impose dumping tax against Vietnamese goods.

PM Dũng praised Senator Tom Harkin’s important role in campaigning for the normalization of the bilateral ties 15 years ago.

Senator Tom Harkin said that he would voice his strong support to speed up the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
