PM’s RoK tour reaps important agreements

VGP - The three-day official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) made by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng was a significant event, planting a new milestone for the relationship between Việt Nam and the RoK, noted Korean President Lee Myung-bac.

Leaders of the two countries agreed in principle that the current bilateral ties should be developed into a “strategic cooperative partnership” for regional and international peace, stability and development. They also discussed a wide range of practical ways to deepen cooperation in all fields.

Among the agreements signed between the two sides, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Vietnamese Office of Government (VOOG) and the Korean Ministry of Public Administrative and Security (MPAS) to establish Việt Nam’s Government Information Data Center (GIDC) is an important mark of the development of e-Government in Việt Nam.

Accordingly, all the Government's instructions, guidelines, and development strategies will be publicized on the Việt Nam Government Web Portal (VGP), so that Internet users can access to the Government's official and updated information source.

Over the past time, VGP and Samsung Data Systems (Samsung SDS), a subsidiary of Samsung Corporation, have been conducting a Feasibility Study (FS) for Việt Nam’s GIDC. The Korean leading IT enterprise, appointed by the Korean National Computer and Information Agency (NCIA), will provide VGP with its experience and finance to realize the FS.

The MoU signed by VOOG and MPAS under the witness of Vietnamese and Korean PM represents the two sides’ strong determination to deepen their bilateral cooperation in building the GIDC. Under the MoU, the two sides will share their information and experience in order to realize GIDC projects.

The two sides also pledged to co-fund other joint research programs, including training courses and seminars, to intensify their respective capabilities of building GIDCs and other activities of common concern.

Concluding his official visit to the RoK, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng this morning headed for Jeju Island to attend the ASEAN-RoK Summit 2009 on the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN-RoK dialogue relations.
