SBV to talk with ADB for sub-Mekong urban development

VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai just okayed that the State Bank of Vietnam will have negotiations with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the lending agreement and other related documents for the Project “Urban development along the sub-Mekong corridor."

The negotiations are scheduled on October 11-12, 2012 in Ha Noi.

The Vietnamese delegation includes representatives from the State President Office, the Office of Government, the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice, SBV, and the provincial People’s Committees of Quang Tri and Tay Ninh.

The SBV must complete all necessary procedures and make a report to the Government chief.

It is reported that under the project, urban roads will be upgraded and widened, sewage treatment stations built, river ports reopened, and water supply system expanded.

The project, carried out in six years from 2012 to 2018, is expected to boost socio-economic development and convert “traffic corridors” into “economic corridors.”
