Three cities get in-grade promotion

VGP – The PM has recently recognized My Tho city as the first-grade provincial urban area; Tam Ky and Tra Vinh cities as the second-grade provincial urban areas.

My Tho city in Tien Giang province has over 300 years of development and had been recognized as the second -grade urban area in 2015. During the past ten years, the local authority has been investing in infrastructure and society development to turn the city into a modern one in the Mekong Delta region.

Under Decision 42/2009/ND-CP and Circular 34/2009/TT-BXD, My Tho city is qualified for first-grade urban area.

Meanwhile, Tam Ky, the largest city in Quang Nam province which is one of the central key economic zones. In 2015, the city's economy consists of  the trade and service sector (72,8%), the industry and building sector (24,5%) and agriculture (2,7%).

According to the PM’s decision, Tam Ky was recognized as the second-grade urban area.

Tra Vinh town was also recognized as the second grade urban area. Earlier, it was the third- grade urban area in 2007, and the city belonged to Tra Vinh province in 2010. Recently, the city has focused on building synchronous substructure, aiming to actively improve the living standard for local residents as well as bring a new facelift to the city.

 Tra Vinh city has met the criteria of the second-grade urban area in accordance with Decree 42/2009/ND-CP./.
