The above-mentioned figures were publicized today in Hồ Chí Minh City at the Meeting held by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalid and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to discuss the sector’s work in 2009.
Addressing the two-day meeting, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng applauded the sector’s efforts and useful advises to the Government in order to fruitfully ensure social security in 2008.
He highlighted the importance of vocational training, considering it one of essential solutions to reduce poverty rate in a sustainable way.
In 2009, the Government will allocate a sufficient budget to realize social policies. Particularly, about VND 3,000 billion will be provided to build housing for the poor.

With 40% of its labor force experiencing vocational training, Việt Nam cannot compete with other countries, stressed the Government chief, requiring that this figure must be raised to 50% within 2009-2010.
He urged the sector to join efforts in preventing economic recession and proactively supporting 61 poorest districts.
The MoLISA, together with the Government and other relevant ministries, should assist the business community by reducing the loan interest rates and tax, stated PM Dũng.
He also required the sector to popularize unemployment insurance right in early 2009, promote vocational training, and assist poor and disadvantaged people in the upcoming Lunar New Year festival.
