VN, Japan prioritize six key industries

VGP – The PM has passed the Viet Nam Industrialization Strategy within the Framework of the Viet Nam-Japan Program through 2020 with a vision towards 2030 which focuses on six key industries with high value-added investments and international competitiveness.

The six key industries include electronics, agricultural machines, agro-fishery manufacturing, shipbuilding, environment and energy saving, automobile and spare parts. 

They are designed to play the leading role in attracting domestic investment as well as that from foreign investors, especially Japanese enterprises. 

By 2020, the key industries would pioneer applications of high and green technologies in accordance with the domestic conditions.

Prioritized fields would advance at least 20% yearly; contribute 35% of total value of the industrial sector and enter the list of the top ten sectors with highest labor productivity growth rate.

By 2030, the six industries would chiefly apply high and clean technologies.

Under the decision, markets of the six industries would be expanded. Their auxiliary industries would be developed, coupled with technology transferring and human training.

In addition, large-scale approved projects on petro-chemistry, steel production, electricity, gas and energy would be put into operation to raise investment efficiency of the key industries./.
