Those targets are stipulated in an overall scheme, recently ratified by the PM, to develop the Economic Zone in the northern province of Quảng Ninh toward 2020, with visions to 2030.
With an area of 2,171 km2, in 2020, the economic zone will have a population of about 150,000 people, welcoming 1.7 million visitors yearly.
There will have different sub-zones for tourism, trade, international finance, clean industrial parks, agro-forestry and fishery, urban centers of ecological services, and residential quarters.
An airport will be put into operation in the period of 2016-2020 and annually serve around 500,000 passengers. In addition, Vân Đồn sea port can allow high-tonnage ships to load and unload cargos.
A new highway across Cái Bầu Island will be built. Moreover, the construction of a railroad route connecting the Vân Đồn Airport and the national railway network will be taken into consideration.
