Vĩnh Long looks to US $4,000 personal income by 2020

VGP – The Southern province of Vĩnh Long sets the target to raise personal income to over US $4,000 by 2020, according to the overall socio-economic development plan adopted recently by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

The objective of the plan is to develop Vĩnh Long into an eco-urban area with average economic growth rate of 13%/ in the 2011 - 2015 period and 14.5% from 2016 to 2020.

The local economy will be shifted to increase the proportion of industry-construction and service sectors to 35 and 45% respectively from projected 26% and 38% in 2015.

The province’s current key industries include food processing, beverage, agricultural mechanics, chemical substances, and labor-intensive industries like garments and textiles and footwear.

 

Vĩnh Long will strive to lift up export value to US $450 million by 2015 and US $1,000 million by 2020.

The percentage of urbanization is targeted to 31% by 2015 and around 60% by 2020.
