ADB funds VN’s program on secondary education development
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng just ratified the portfolio of the Project on Secondary Education Development with the total investment capital of US $71 million funded by the Asia Development Bank (ADB).
The PM asked the Ministry of Education and Training to verify and ratify related documents of the project under the current legal regulations. The project is part of a credit agreement signed between the Government of Việt Nam and ADB with an aim to reduce poverty through senior secondary education development and improvement. Under the project, textbooks, documents and educational equipment will be freely provided to senior secondary schools, secondary boarding-schools and vocational centers in 22 disadvantaged provinces nationwide. Moreover, around 2,000 classrooms will be built, 66,000-122,000 turns of pupils will be provided with textbooks and educational appliances. The project has three components: developing and improving senior secondary education; enhancing access, equality and opportunities for senior secondary education in disadvantaged areas; and bettering senior secondary education management.
