 | | CLV Summit aims at speeding up cooperation in socio-economic development – Photo: VGP | Three PMs reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation for economic development on the basis of traditional friendship, solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and good neighborhood. They showed their pleasure at the implementation of the overall planning scheme and the establishment of a joint steering committee to accelerate the fulfillment of common goals of DT. The leaders stressed the importance of outlining special preferential policies on DT area, so as to boost up economic growth and improve local people’s living standard. Three PMs agreed that it is an urgent mission to speed up socio-economic development in the region, underscoring their determination to closely work together to bring the area out of underdevelopment. They came to a high consensus in promoting trilateral cooperation, focusing on transportation, mining, agro-product processing, energy, telecommunications, and tourism, as well as in early revising the DT planning scheme to 2020.  | | A close meeting of three PMs - Photo: VGP | At the Summit, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng highlighted the need to improve the operation of the joint steering committee and its subcommittees in order to cement the CLV coordination in building the DT area and encourage local-level meetings to lift difficulties and guarantee security in the border areas. The leaders highly spoke of the role of private enterprise, considering them a driving force for economic growth. They pledged to give priority to infrastructure development in the DT area to facilitate the movement of cargos, vehicles and people among the ten border provinces of three countries.  | | Many important documents signed on the occasion of the Summit - Photo: VGP | Environment was also a top issue in the agenda. Accordingly, it is necessary to manage and use resources in a sustainable way within the DT area in order to ensure sustainable development.
