Ambassadors as bridges for cooperation, friendship and mutual trust

VNGOP - PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng met 22 newly-appointed ambassadors and consuls general for the 2007-2010 term on September 7 in Hà Nội.

After analyzing the country‘s status and achievements during doi moi years, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng said “We should do our utmost to make the best use of opportunities and to overcome difficulties and challenges, so that we can soon lift the country out of the underdeveloped status“. He stressed that while internal source is regarded as the decisive factor; the external source is also very important.

The PM added that ambassadors and consuls general should act as bridges for the friendship, cooperation, mutual trust and understanding between Việt Nam and the countries they will be based in.

Besides they should also focus on boosting the cultural, educational, scientific and technological cooperation; and calling on other countries to help Việt Nam train human resources, especially in the fields that require highly qualified staff.

Moreover Embassies are required to give attention to and protect Vietnamese nationals’ legitimate interests abroad.
