The section runs 55km long through the districts of Long Thành, Nhơn Trạch and Thống Nhất of the southern province of Đồng Nai, connecting the East-West Avenue and the Hồ Chí Minh City-Trung Lương Highway.
It is supposed to create good pre-conditions for socio-economic development in the localities where it runs through as well as in the Economic Triangle in the eastern part of South Việt Nam.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng stressed that a very significant breakthrough to convert Việt Nam into an industrialized country is to upgrade and modernize transport infrastructure, especially the network of expressways.

He took the occasion to thank the Government of Japan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for financing the project.
The PM was convinced that the project will help to consolidate the friendship among Việt Nam, Japan, China and ADB.

The Hồ Chí Minh City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây Section Construction Project needs an investment capital of US $932.4 million.
The project will be built into two phases. A 4-lane road with the design speed of 120 km/h will come into operation in the first phase. It will be expanded to 6-8 lanes in the following phase.
