Discussing in his group, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, Hải Phòng's NA deputy, said that the Communist Party of Việt Nam’s Politburo and the NA Standing Committee had affirmed in writing to build Hà Nội into the heart, the political-administrative center, and a major hub for cultural, scientific, educational, economic activities and international exchanges of the country.

To realize the Politburo's guideline, the Government had seriously carried out researching work to outline a draft planning scheme for the Hà Nội capital area, including Hà Nội City and seven neighboring provinces.

The PM clearly pointed out that, besides the socio-economic achievements thanks to its advantages, Hà Nội has recently faced a lot of difficulties and challenges. The capital’s current space cannot meet the development goals. Its population is booming and the habitat becomes smaller.

Thus, the Government chief asserted, the Government has seriously researched and sought for a proper planning scheme for the capital over the past six years, with a high sense of responsibility and under the collaboration of ministries, sectors, localities, international consultants, scientists, independent professional associations, and experts.

The PM said that, if the NA approves the expansion of Hà Nội, the Government will invite international and domestic veteran planners and advisors to design an optimal scenario to build Hà Nội one of the top capitals in Asia-Pacific.

Many NA deputies showed their sympathy for the expansion of Hà Nội.
