Gov’t chief expects closer VN-US relations for peace, stability and development
VGP – Việt Nam wants to enhance the bilateral comprehensive ties with the US for regional and global peace and development, reiterated PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng during his reception to a US senate delegation headed by Senator John McCain.

Hailing the US as one of Việt Nam’s ten biggest investors, the Government chief suggested the US further work with Việt Nam in climate change control, criminal prevention, finding Vietnamese MIAs, clearing bombs and mines, and supporting Agent Orange victims. Education and training sector was considered by both the host and guest as an important channel for better cooperation among the young generations of the two countries. On this occasion, PM Dũng expressed his gratitude to the supports from the US in general and Senator John McCain in particular for Việt Nam, especially in HIV/AIDS prevention and charitable activities for Vietnamese children. | | | NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng and Senator John McCain | On the same day, welcoming Senator John McCain, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng highly spoke of the guest’s role in promoting multifaceted cooperation between the two legislative bodies. The host expected that, through the Senator, the US Government will early recognize Việt Nam’s market economy, grant GSP status and encourage more American enterprises to do business in Việt Nam. Senator John McCain lauded Việt Nam’s recent socio-economic achievements and reforms of the Vietnamese NA to guarantee democratic and transparent legislative performance.
