Gov’t chief meets Chinese Vice Premier in Davos

VGP – On the occasion of his presence at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on January 28 (local time) met with Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang to discuss ways to boost the Việt Nam-China strategic partnership for comprehensive cooperation in the coming time.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng expressed his delight at the fine developments in the friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam and China .

Meanwhile, the Chinese Vice Premier described Việt Nam a friendly neighbor and an important partner of China, Underlining that the Party, Government and people of China always attach importance to advancing the relationship with Việt Nam.

Both sides agreed to successfully organize the Việt Nam-China Friendship Year in 2010 by maintaining high-ranking meetings; enhancing exchanges among their ministries, sectors and localities; and speeding up people-to-people diplomacy.

The government leaders of the two countries acknowledged the necessity to early sign the Five-Year Plan for the China-Việt Nam Trade and Economic Development, focusing on infrastructure construction and striving for a two-way trade turnover of US $25 billion in 2010.

The two sides were convinced that the sea-related issues will be reasonably resolved on the basis of the fine bilateral ties and international laws, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) as well as in the spirit of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
